Annual screenings are recommended for all women over the age of 40, and earlier for women with a family history of cancer. The Mammography Assistance Fund through the Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation was established to pay for mammograms for patients who are uninsured or underinsured and cannot pay for these important screenings.  With current economic challenges, job losses and increased deductibles and co-pays, the need for support for this fund has grown.  $15,000 will pay for screenings for 300 women who might otherwise go without. One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life. Having an annual mammogram is the best way to detect cancer at its earliest stage. The earlier cancer is found, the greater the success rate for treatment and survival.

Michael's Place began in 2001 working with grieving children, teens, and families who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Michael's Place welcomes families of all backgrounds.  Services and programs are free to all.  Each week families come together to share stories and experiences and find comfort and security with others who understand.  In 2008, Michael’s Place opened the Family Support Center where programs such as Make A Memory Nights and Teen Expresso are offered.  In addition, Michael's Place services include family meetings, educational workshops, school-based grief support programs and services, emergency personnel trainings, community trainings, summer camp for children, and more. Statistics show that 78% of couples experiencing the death of a child will either separate or divorce within one year from the death.  At Michael's Place, none of the couples in the program have separated or divorced and all of the children have remained in school.  In 2008, through the tremendous effort of our volunteer base, Michael's Place provided over 32,000 hours of direct service to those grieving in our community.

The Northwest Food Coalition was formed in 1194 in Traverse City with a group of 8 area pantries meeting to discuss local food concerns and was then known as the Ecumenical Food and Pantry Coalition.  It has grown to 39 pantries in a 5 county area and in 2008 served over 209,000 people.  The focus of the group is education, networking, maximizing and sharing of resources to meet the growing needs of our communities.  The group is able to distribute food and money to pantries that are low on food, plan and implement food drives and educate the public on the hunger issues in our area.  Our strength is in working together to meet needs.

The Community Living Foundation is a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing quality housing alternatives and independent living support for adults with developmental disabilities.  Its main office is located at the Community Living Center (CLC) on Barlow, a barrier-free, licensed group home, staffed with trained personnel providing 24-hour supervision. Over 200 clients have made the move to more independent living since the Community Living Center opened in 1978.  Individualized programs range from learning basic living skills to helping someone move into the community and live with a minimum of assistance.  After a typical stay at the CLC (usually 18 months to three years), consumers can move on to more independent living in a variety of settings offered: apartments, duplexes and houses.  All are monitored by staff to some extent to give residents privacy and independence while still allowing them assistance when needed.
