Korin has considered Traverse City home since moving here as a child. Although she went elsewhere for school and dance training, she came back to the area 25 years ago, and has been teaching at The Dance Center since that time. Korin became co-owner of The Dance Center in 1996, and is also the co-founder/director of the Dance Center Youth Ensemble. When not dancing, she resides in Leelanau County with her husband, Mike and two children, Clarence and Mitchell. Korin received her foundational training at The Dance Center and continued her dance studies at Interlochen Center for the Arts where she graduated in 1980. After graduation, she studied dance in New York City at The Martha Graham School, among others. She has performed with The Cleveland Ballet and Joffrey II Ensemble. Korin was Ballet Mistress of The Traverse City Youth Ballet Company for six years, and on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp for five years. She is a member of Chicago National Association of Dance Masters and has earned certifications in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Korin is the founder of "Heavenly Steps", a sacred dance performing ensemble, and the Treasurer of Northern Michigan Dance Council. She is looking forward to her role as a judge for SwingShift and the Stars because it allows her to serve the community while also supporting her long-time friend, Judy Harrison. Korin and Judy have known each other for 15 years, with much of that time spent teaching together at The Dance Center. This competition is a logical extension of their many years playing, working and dancing together.
