Rick was raised in Saginaw, MI and spent 17 years in Texas before making the move to Traverse City. He had always enjoyed the Northern Michigan scenery and escaping the heat of the South West when visiting family in the area, and finally decided to re-locate up North 6 years ago. Rick grew up with a large family of 3 sisters and 2 brothers; he is grateful to be living in Michigan where he is closer to many of them. Rick works by day as a bookkeeper and accountant, but his true passion is dancing. For years now, he has seriously committed himself to learning various dance forms by taking lessons at area dance schools, including NorthWest Michigan College and The Dance Center and by practicing his craft at local events and performances. Rick has worked to build a dance community in the area by starting an e-mail newsletter that keeps people informed on the local dance scene, his list has grown over the years with over 200 people now receiving his correspondence! As a regular attendee of Judy Harrison’s SwingShift concerts, Rick is looking forward to continuing to support the band through serving as a judge in SwingShift and the Stars. He is excited to watch all of the dance performances and to provide his unbiased evaluations to all the performers, informed by his love for dance and years of dance knowledge.
