Raised in Big Rapids, Michigan, Pete lived in several places before moving to Traverse City in 1989. Here he and his family have found a home and a place to retire with friendly people, beautiful waterfront and ideal summers. Peter has great adoration and respect, for his wife Linda, whose kindness and spirit for volunteerism have inspired him to do the same. Together they have four children, Sean a recent graduate from Grand Valley, Bryan a geology student at NMC, Lauren a second year student at Grand Valley and the youngest, Austin, a Freshman at St. Francis who is currently gearing up for football season. When not serving as a father, husband and volunteer, Pete has made a name for himself in the community as the head of natural gas marketing and Trading Company for BP.
Pete was inspired by the memory of his parents, both of whom were very active in their community, to participate in SwingShift and the Stars. He hopes to follow in the capable footsteps of his father, who was also quite the dancer! Representatives from his charity of choice, Grand Traverse Area Community Living Foundation, also encouraged him to join the line up this year. As the brother of two mentally disabled siblings, the mission of the Community Living Foundation is close to his heart- and he just couldn’t say “no”. Pete is hoping that his participation this year will bring some much needed attention to a wonderful organization that helps adults with developmental disabilities to live quality, independent lives.
