Thanks to 6 wonderful charities and 6 talented local celebrities, the inaugural season of SwingShift and the Stars dazzled the Traverse City audience with electrifying dance performances that raised almost $40,000 for charity!
Building upon the excitement of the first year, 2009 promises to be a huge success, but we need passionate local celebrities, talented dance professionals, inspired charities and generous sponsors to bring this competition to life.
When was the last time you put on dancing shoes to do community service? Become a part of all of the glitz and entertainment value-all to benefit area non-profits in need!
Event Details:
In the spirit of Dancing with the Stars, couples will compete in four performances before a panel of three judges. The scores of the judges will be tabulated and announced at the end of each event. During each performance the audience will have the privilege of voting for their favorite couple for a minimum donation of $5 to go towards one of the six charities selected by the competing couples. The cumulative audience vote from the four performances will be combined with the judge’s scores at the end of the competition to determine the winners. The winning couple and the charity donation grand totals will be announced at the Grand Finale Competition on New Years Eve!

September 4th: Introduction of New Stars & Charities!

December 4th: 3rd Competition
December 31st: Final Competition and New Years Eve Event!
Stars/Dance Instructors Details:
Taking part in the SwingShift and the Stars competition is a unique opportunity for local influentials to raise money for their favorite charity, while learning to be light on their feet. This process requires determination and sacrifice, but is the experience of a lifetime. Be the hero of one area non-profit!

Charity Details:
SwingShift and the Stars is a charity-focused event. The goal is to not only raise funds but also awareness for area non-profits. This year, all six Stars will have the opportunity to select a charity to represent. Have a blast with this fundraising effort, attending the performances and supporting your dancer!
