Dancing with Rich Budek for Grand Traverse Conservation District. |
Kathy moved to Traverse City in 1976 after graduating from St. Mary's College/Notre Dame with a degree in Philosophy and an Art minor. After a career in Mineral Trust Administration with the original Traverse City State Bank, she returned to Illinois to become the Chairman of the Board of Montgomery Elevator Company, an elevator and escalator manufacturer with installation and service offices throughout the U.S. She and her husband, Denny, returned to Traverse City and purchased Floor Covering Brokers in 2003. Supported by a great team of flooring experts, her flair for creating beautiful, impishly classical living spaces and a unique local area rug resource, has become well known.
A mother of two, Kathy enjoys sharing her love of gardening and design with her grandchildren, who live near her Leland home. She strongly believes the mission of the Grand Traverse Conservation District, of "inspiring exploration, appreciation and conservation of our natural world" will make our world a balanced place for all to thrive. When asked, Kathy says: "Our world needs 3-dimensional human beings; people with the capacity for logical, well developed thought patterns. Exploring nature and managing it for the benefit for all is key in developing this attribute".
