Dancing with Rodney Woodring for The March of Dimes. |
Melissa moved to Traverse City in 2007 after graduating from Michigan State University with a BA in journalism. She absolutely loves Northern Michigan and being part of a community where people are not only happy but also, proud to live in. She is the eldest of four, with two sisters and a brother. Her dad is a retired Detroit Police officer and her mom is an OB-GYN nurse. Family is definitely her number one priority.
You may recognize Melissa as the early morning anchor for TV 7&4 news. She is also passionate about a monthly news segment she reports on, called Matters of the Heart. It focuses on heart disease awareness, and understanding the disease since it is the number killer of women and men. In her free time, Melissa loves to travel and meet new people. She has fallen in love with the numerous beaches and wineries in the area. Melissa serves on the board of directors for the March of Dimes and is passionate about raising awareness and funds to help support the organization and babies in need.
